Overview

Taar means wire. The technique of inlaying a fine flattened wire of brass/silver or gold in wood is called Tarkashi.

The artist conducting this workshop, Mohan Lal Sharma learnt this craft from his brother and Guru Shri Gopal Lal Sharma when he was 14. Since then he has created a lot of work on Sheesham and another medium. Eventually, he started his own workshop and has trained many artisans since then.

Training under this artist will help you understand the intricate details and techniques of Tarkashi. As he gives a live demonstration of what goes into this elaborate process. Participants learn different materials, techniques, and tools used in metal wire inlaying and the different tools used for Tarkashi. Artist also briefs you about from where you can procure the material and tools for the art form.
